Mr. Barry Cinnamon is a Co-founder of Akeena Solar, Inc. and also serves as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary, and has been its President since December 30, 2010. Mr. Cinnamon served as President of Akeena Solar, Inc. until December 14, 2009. Mr. Cinnamon founded Allegro New Media, a multimedia software publisher, which he led to an IPO in 1995. Mr. Cinnamon has a successful 20 year career in the renewable energy and software business. He is a long-time ... advocate of solar energy and widely recognized solar energy expert. He started his career in solar energy in the late 1970s as a researcher into new flat plate and concentrating collector designs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During the late 1970s and early 1980s, he designed and installed active solar, passive solar and ground coupled heat pump systems. Mr. Cinnamon also served as Treasurer of Akeena Solar, Inc. Prior to founding Akeena Solar, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Andalay, (a wireless data shopping service company), Software Publishing Corporation (international publisher of popular business productivity titles including Harvard Graphics), and Allegro New Media (a multimedia software publisher which he led to a successful IPO in 1995). His business background - coupled with his engineering expertise - has helped Akeena develop an effective, customer-focused team. Mr. Cinnamon began his renewable energy work by providing energy consulting, HVAC engineering and energy system software development services for organizations in New England. His specialty was developing comprehensive financial models of renewable energy and HVAC retrofit options for commercial customers. Mr. Cinnamon is a North American Board of Certified Energy Practioners and holds a California HIS. Mr. Cinnamon serves as Member of the Board of Directors of CalSEIA (California Solar Energy Industry Association) and Fluent Entertainment, Inc. He has been a Director of Akeena Solar, Inc. since 2001. He also serves as Member of Advisorsy Board of Fat Spaniel Technologies, Inc. He earned a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT (his thesis was on the design and analysis of an open film flat panel thermal solar collector), and an MBA degree in Marketing from University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School.
