Jim Riggleman was born November 9, 1952 in Fort Dix, New Jersey and is the manager of the Washington Nationals. He attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, and Frostburg State University.

He was previously manager of the San Diego Padres (1992–1994), Chicago Cubs (1995–1999), and Seattle Mariners (2008 partial season). His career record was 486–598. His most successful season was 1998, when he led the Cubs to a playoff appearance, losing to the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series three games to none. While manager of the Cubs Riggleman did some PR for the CTA (the Chicago Transit Authority). He was quoted in the news media "that he never drove to Wrigley he always took public Transportation." After that he was contacted by the CTA then he was placed on bus ads, in magazines, newspapers, and TV spots all over Chicago.
After the 2008 season, Riggleman was named bench coach for the Washington Nationals. On July 12, 2009, Riggleman was named manager of the Nationals replacing Manny Acta.
