Jimbo Fisher's Biography
Jimbo Fisher was born October 9, 1965, in Clarksburg, West Virginia and is a college football coach and former player who was the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year as a senior . He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at LSU from 2000 until 2007. He has been named to be the head coach at Florida State University, and will replace legendary FSU head coach Bobby Bowden in January 2010. On December 1, 2009 FSU head coach Bobby Bowden announced his retirement, effective after their bowl game. Signs point to FSU participating in the Gator Bowl on January 1, 2010, meaning Fisher will take over as head coach of FSU on January 2, 2010.

Fisher continued at Auburn until the hiring of head coach Tommy Tuberville in the wake of Bowden's 1998 mid-season resignation. He then coached quarterbacks for one season at Cincinnati before joining Nick Saban's new staff at LSU in 2000. When Saban left for the NFL's Miami Dolphins Fisher remained at LSU to continue his role with Les Miles. He has guided several well-known quarterbacks in his tenure with the LSU Tigers including Josh Booty, Rohan Davey, Matt Mauck and JaMarcus Russell.
After the 2006 season, Fisher interviewed for the head coaching position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham but the Board of Trustees, which also governs the University of Alabama, vetoed the contract offer for Fisher causing some controversy. He subsequently signed a three year contract to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Florida State University. He will receive a base salary of $215,000 with incentives increasing the total package into the low $400,000 range. In a press release on December 10, 2007 Jimbo Fisher was named the eventual successor for the legendary coach Bobby Bowden. This new contract will pay Fisher about $600,000 per year with a $2.5 million buy out clause.[8] Fisher will be given a $5 million dollar bonus if he is not head coach by 2011. On December 1, 2009 Bowden announced his retirement from coaching football, and after the Seminoles' postseason bowl game, Fisher will become the 9th head football coach in Florida State's history.
