Lacy Schnoor earned her spot on the U.S. Olympic freestyle team by winning Olympic Trials on Christmas Eve in Steamboat Springs, Colo. In 2009, Schnoor finished a career-best seventh at the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro, Japan. She has registered eight top-10 finishes at the World Cup level, with her best career World Cup result an eighth place finish on Feb. 25, 2007, in Apex, British Columbia. Apex is located roughly 370 miles east of Vancouver.

A former gymnast, Schnoor became involved in aerials in middle school, soon after her gymnastics career ended. As reported by the Deseret News, in 1999, her middle school in Sandy, Utah, hosted an Olympic outreach program. Simulations of the various winter sports were set up around the gym and students moved from station to station. When her group arrived at a bungee exercise that stimulated aerial maneuvers, there was only time for one student to try it. Schnoor raised her hand first. She began competing in 2002 and by 2005 she was national champion.
Listed at 5-foot-2 and 112 lbs., Schnoor is considered small, even for an aerialist. But she has made efforts to change that. "I try to be heavier," she told the Deseret News. "I try to put on muscle and a little bit of fat because I don't want the wind to push me around."
