All-Star slugger for the Detroit Tigers, Magglio Ordonez was born on January 28, 1974, in Coro, Venezuela. Ordonez spent the first eight years of his major league career playing with the Chicago White Sox. In the five seasons prior to 2004, Ordonez hit at least .300 with 29 home runs and 99 RBI's, and reached the 30-home run, 100-RBI mark in four of those seasons.

Ordonez is a .312 hitter with 247 home runs and 992 RBIs in 1395 games. He has been selected for the All-Star Game six times (1999-2001, 2003 and 2006-07) and has won three Silver Slugger awards (2000, 2002 and 2007). In 2007, he won the batting title for American League with an average of .363. He also established a career high with 139 runs batted in, and finished runner-up to Alex Rodriguez in the AL Most Valuable Player award voting.
