Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Huston Street will deliver the keynote address at the 2015 Roadrunners’ annual First Pitch Banquet on Saturday, February 7. The event serves as a fundraiser for the University of Texas at San Antonio baseball program and will be held at the H-E-B University Center Ballroom.
The event will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction and raffle, which will include several cool prizes and memorabilia. The main program will begin at 6:45 and will feature player introductions, the presentation of academic and athletic awards, video highlights from the previous season, a speech from UTSA head baseball coach Jason Marshall and Street’s keynote address. Huston Street played his college ball at the University of Texas and earned All-American honors for the Longhorns before heading to the Oakland Athletics as a first round pick in 2004. The following year he made his big league debut and earned the American League Rookie of the year award after posting a 5-1 record with a 1.72 ERA. He’s since seen time with the Colorado Rockies from 2008 to 2011, the San Diego Padres from 2012 to 2013, and the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014 before heading to Los Angeles. During his career he has earned two All-Star selections in 2012 and 2014.
