Seven-time competitor and 25 year old American Ben Smith has been crowned the “Fittest Man on Earth” as he took the title after winning the 2015 Crossfit Games with a total of 915 points. The competition took place in the StubHub Center in Carson, California and came to completion on Sunday July 26 after several grueling events. Smith stands at 5’11 and weighs 195 pounds, yet he managed to beat out 2nd place winner Matthew Fraser and third place winner Bjorgvin Guomundsson for the overall win. The crowd went wild as Smith was declared the champion, being that he is a homegrown American and made his country really quite proud this July.
Smith has been a dedicated and focused athlete for the past several years as he turns up time and time again to have a chance at winning the Crossfit Games. His perseverance is remarkable, and not many others could say they would come back for a 7th attempt to win with the same amount of heart and adversity. Some of his stunning statics include being able to do 76 consecutive pull-ups, 480lb back squat, and a 400m sprint in just 58 seconds.
The 2015 CrossFit champ took his reign on Sunday July 26 and many would agree it was a well-deserved win, and one that took him the better half of a decade to get to.
