Boston Marathon and New York Marathon, and Olympic gold medalist Meb Kellezighi was the keynote speaker for this year’s summer commencement at National University that took place in June 17 in San Diego, California. The event will take place right at 2 p.m. in the San Diego Convention Center, and the staff are really excited to see such a resilient runner take the stage to talk. Even though not all of this June’s graduates are athletes, the thing that they do have in common with Kellezighi is the fact as to how tough they are. Life often throws curve balls that can’t be predicted, and the runner made sure that his listeners could relate to him on some level no matter what it is they are fighting for. In addition to that, his talk was one of the most highly regarded of the year for the area, and it was very inspiring for everyone to listen to his story.
Kellezighi is the only person in the world to win a gold medal in the Olympics, the Boston Marathon, and the New York Marathon in the history of the sport. Like many other people, he grew up in a home filled with poverty and strife. He channeled his difficult situation to overcome everything and use that drive to make history in the world of running. These days, the runner actually lives in the San Diego area so it wasn’t much of a commute at all to the convention center. He was very inspiring and the audience could really feel that connection with him, as he told each and over one of them that he believed in what they would accomplish in the next years to come.
Kellezighi was the main speaker at National University’s summer 2015 commencement ceremony and it couldn’t have gone better.
