Former Boston Bruins great Rick Middleton was the featured speaker at the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce annual meeting luncheon at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, November 19. During his speech Middleton shared stories from his impressive career that kept the crowd entertained and on the edge of their seats. He also talked about his experience as the coach for the US National Sled Hockey Team in 2002 as they competed in the Paralympic Games.
“Working with them was the biggest thrill of my life in hockey,” said Middleton, who played with the Boston Bruins from 1976 to 1988. “Disability is the wrong word for them. They are phenomenal athletes.”
Middleton began his career with the New York Rangers in 1973 and joined the Bruins in 1976. During his career he scored 448 goals and added 540 assists for 988 points in 1005 games. After his retirement he remained close to the game of hockey, and served as a studio analyst for New England Sports Network covering the Boston Bruins from 2002 to 2007. Currently he serves as the President of Boston Bruins Alumni and is also a partner in Orlanda Energy Systems.
