Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. is set to speak at The Boys & Girls Club of the Ozarks’ annual fundraiser, The Thanks4Giving Gala, on November 12 at the Branson Convention Center. This fundraiser is a traditional one that is done every year and is usually pretty successful, as the money raised goes to benefit community programs, meals, educational enrichment, and needs of Club Members in Taney and Stone counties. Cox Health has been one of the main sponsors for four years in a row, and at the event itself there will be meet and greet opportunities, photographs to be taken, a private cocktail party, fine dining and also entertainment throughout the evening.
The Maryland native played as a shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles for two decades and was even named the All-Star MVP and given the Commissioner’s Historic Achievement Award in 2001 to honor him during that last year of his career. His father was a coach and manager in the MLB, also for the Orioles, which is probably where he was introduced into the sport and learned to get good at it. The 1983 World Series champion was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 and it was well deserved as he is a 19-time All-Star player with a league record of 2,632 games played.
Ripken Jr. is going to be participating in the Thanks4Giving Gala that is happening this fall at the Branson Convention Center to help raise funds for the Taney and Stone counties. This is bound to be a thrilling event for all baseball fans as Ripken Jr. is a classic player who is respected all around.
