Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be hosting a two-day football camp on May 14-15 for military dependents on Fort Bragg. This free camp is a great way to give back to the children of the men and women who are serving overseas in dangerous areas, as this is an event only for dependents of active military members. Registration began on March 30, and the camp will take place from 5-8:30 p.m. for both of the two days at the Youth Sports office in the Soldier Support Center. This will be a great opportunity for kids to learn about football and throw a ball around with one of the current greats in the NFL.
The eight-time Pro Bowl player was selected to play for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2004 NFL Draft and has been with the team ever since, as he is one of their star players that has truly come to shine over the years. In 2008 not only was he a NFC Champion, but he also was the NFC receiving yards leader that wowed the fans as they watched him take the ball on some great runs. Fitzgerald’s father is a sports writer for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder and is known to be the only man to cover his own son at a Super Bowl when the Cardinals competed for the title against the Steelers.
The wide receiver is giving the men and women of the armed services a very kind gesture by teaching their children some football skills and to allow them to take their minds off their absent parents for a couple hours, it should be a great event.
