Jermaine Kearse Appearance FeeThis past week Jermaine Kearse made an appearance at the Capitol Campus Tour in Olympia, Washington. The event was dedicated to gold star families, which are families who have lost family members to service. With Kearse in attendance, it allowed him to sign autographs for gold star kids in a place he calls home himself. With Kearse being the son of a military family, the event hit home particular with Kearse and stated “I want them to know they’re not alone, I have their back.” The sponsors of this event hope that Washington’s gold star event will get on par with some of the others around the country.

Jermaine Kearse is a Lakewood, Washington native and played his college football at the University of Washington. During Kearse’s time with the Washington Huskies, Kearse had 180 catches, 2500 yards receiving, and 27 touchdowns. After having a stellar career with the Huskies, Kearse was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012. While with the Seattle Seahawks, Kearse has already had a particularly strong career with over 1500 yards and 10 touchdowns. Although not eye popping numbers, where Kearse stands out is in the biggest games as he did in both Super Bowls the Seahawks have been in, winning the big game in 2013 and losing in the Super Bowl in 2014. In the postseason alone, Kearse has over 450 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a whopping 18 yards a catch. This last season, Kearse really emerged as a threat for opposing defenses and is looking poised to breakout next season as one of the better receivers in the NFL.

This past week Jermaine Kearse made an appearance at the Capitol Campus Tour in Olympia, Washington. The event had a great turnout and gave kids the opportunity to get autographs from not only a home state player but also a military raised kid himself in Kearse.

Jim Thome Appearance FeeThis coming July four Former Cleveland Indians players will be inducted into the teams Hall of Fame. Two of the Indians, Jim Thome and Albert Belle, helped the Indians fuel many victories behind their power hitting in the 90s. Charlie Jamieson was a part of the Indians 1920 World Series Championship team. Frank Robinson the fourth member being inducted was not only one of the greatest players to ever put cleats on but also became the first African American manager in Major League Baseball.

James Howard (Jim) Thome is a Peoria, Illinois native and played 22 years in the MLB. Before being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1989, Thome played baseball at Illinois Central College. Between 1991 and 1997, the Indians and Thome took off. Not only did the Indians go to the World Series two times in three years but also boasted one of the best offenses to ever take the field. After the 2002 season, the last of his first stint with the Indians, Thome signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2011, Thome started his second stint with the Cleveland Indians after playing for other teams, such as the Dodgers and White Sox. During the season it was made known by the Indians Thome would be honored with a statue at Heritage Park.

Albert Belle is a Shreveport, Louisiana native and stayed home to play baseball at Louisiana State University. After his career at LSU, Belle was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1988. During his time with the Indians, Belle was the first and still only player to post a 50 home run and 50 doubles season ever. He also led the league in RBIs and total bases multiple times with the Indians. Belle was forced to end his career after 12 seasons because of degenerative hip osteoarthritis.

The Hall of Famer, Frank Robinson, is a Beaumont, Texas native born in 1935. He is one of the only players to win an MVP award in both the National and American Leagues. Robinson also hit for the highly elusive Triple Crown which before 2012 had not happened since the season after Robinson had done it in 1966. Robinson also played in 14 All Star games for four different teams and won two World Series titles while part of the Baltimore Orioles. On top of all of his playing accomplishments, Robinson was also the first African American manager in the Major Leagues.

Four iconic players for the Cleveland Indians will be inducted into the teams Hall of Fame this coming July including Jim Thome. This should give the fans from each player’s generation a chance to remember times of great baseball from the Indians, while also allowing today’s younger fans to appreciate some of the greatest players to not only play for the Indians but the game of baseball in general.
