Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas took some time on April 13 to take the game of basketball back to basics as he visited with the Boys & Girls Club of Waltham, Massachusetts. The 5 foot 9 athlete showed up as a surprise guest to hang over with over 100 children that day to shoot hoops, work on their defensive game, and give out dozens of high fives to the young players. Thomas wasn’t there just to have some fun, but to also tell his little admirers that it is important to never doubt yourself and believe that you can’t do something. The kids were so delighted that he showed up to their facility that many of them were stunned and beyond excited to see one of their state’s professional basketball players.
Thomas was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, and even went to college at the University of Washington in Seattle where he played the sport for three years for the Huskies. He was picked up in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings where he spent three seasons, before going to the Phoenix Suns for one more, and now he is on the roster of the popular Boston Celtics. His career in basketball is still fairly young, so it is without doubt that we will be seeing a lot more out of him in the next few years.
The Boston Celtic decided to pop in on the Waltham chapter of the Boys & Girls Club to surprise the young fans with a day of playing and learning that they will never forget.
