Chicago Bears AppearanceOn December 11, 1985 the Chicago Bears released “The Super Bowl Shuffle.” Surprisingly a number of NFL teams in the 1980s created their own music videos, but this is certainly one of the most memorable.

Do you remember the 1985 Chicago Bears? They had a 15-1 record that season and defeated their three post season opponents with a combined score of 91-10 on the way to a victory in Super Bowl XX. The team was led by head coach Mike Ditka along with quarterback Jim McMahon and players like the late Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, defensive tackle William “Refrigerator” Perry and linebacker Mike Singletary.

Nearly all of the players participated in recording the song “The Super Bowl Shuffle,” other than Dan Hampton who didn’t like the song’s message. They became the first sports team to record a rap song, while the 49ers had recorded a “post-disco” song in 1984. It was recorded in order to “feed the needy” as Payton rapped – with profits going to help Chicago families in need with clothing, food and shelter.
