Cincinnati Reds announcer Marty Brennaman spoke at the 2015 Fearless Frontline Leader Awards on October 20 where finalists of those nominated will be announced. The event will take place at the Great American Ball Park and people will get to hear the inspiring stories by nominees who have listened to, empowered, and been a real leader to those around them. There was no doubt in Brennaman’s ability to be able to give a good speech as he is probably one of the most experienced people in the area with his voice and it turned out to be a huge success.
The Virginia native attended both Randolph-Macon College and the University of North Carolina in 1965 with a degree in communications. Brennaman began his career as a baseball radio announcer in 1971 for the Tidewater Tides, who are known known as the “Norfolk Tides” which were the AAA club version of the New York Mets. In 1973 he took a position at Virginia Tech for the Hokies where he became the first broadcaster to cover both football and basketball, but left just a year later when he got offered a job with the Cincinnati Reds.
Brennaman spoke at this year’s 2015 Fearless Frontline Leader Awards ceremony that happened earlier this month at the Great American Ball Park, and it was a honor for the winners to be preceded by such a great name in the sports world.
