College Football Hall of Famer Gene Stallings was the featured speaker at Live Beyond’s first annual benefit on Monday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Grapevine, Texas at the Grapevine Concourse Event Center. The event was a major success, with more than 250 attendees gathering to support LiveBeyond’s work in Thomazeau, Haiti.
During the event everyone had the opportunity to hear Stallings share his stories about working with LiveBeyond in Thomazeau, and how rewarding the experience was. During his visit to the region he worked together with his son-in-law, Dr. David Vanderpool, and daughter, Laurie Vanderpool, at the LiveBeyond base to provide medical care to thousands of locals across the Thomazeau region.
Dr. Vanderpool says it was a great treat to have his father-in-law, Gene Stallings, share his personal testimony on how the people of Haiti changed his family’s life. The event also featured an auction that included original, Haiti inspired art that sold for a substantial amount of money to help support the mission of LiveBeyond.
Stallings coached Alabama to a an NCAA Division I National Championship in 1992 in route to being named the national coach of the year. He’d go on to lead the Crimson Tide to a 70-16 record during his seven year stint in Tuscaloosa and earn two SEC Coach of the Year honors in 1992 and 1994.
