Chicago Cubs Javier Baez traveled to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Chicago to for a meet and greet with fans and to sign some autographs as well. The line to get into the event wrapped all the way around the store starting from the evening before Baez’s appearance day which kicked off at noon on November 7th. This could have something to do with the fact that Macy’s offered a guarantee to meet the baseball star for the first 175 customers to purchase more than $35 in MLB merchandise. Especially since the Cubs are the current World Series champs, it should be no shock to anyone how good of a turnout this appearance was.
The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native began playing baseball from a very young age, but it took more precedence in his life once he moved to Florida as a teenager. He entered the 2011 MLB Draft where he was selected as the ninth overall pick by the Chicago Cubs, however he didn’t make his MLB debut until August 2014. During his first ever professional baseball game, he also made his first career home run and is known to be the first player for the Cubs that has stolen home in a postseason game since 1907. There is no question as to whether his future with Chicago will be bright, as he has already managed to clinch a championship within in first two years of being on the pro roster.
Baez visited his team’s hometown earlier this month to meet with his young and old fans who have supported both he and the Cubs over their journey in this year’s World Series.
