Jay Bilas Speaking FeeThis upcoming week Blair County will hold their 17th annual Blair County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony. The event is being held at the Blair County Convention Center and will feature none other than University of Duke standout and ESPN analyst Jay Bilas as a guest speaker.

Jay Bilas is a Rolling Hills, California native who was a top 50 recruit while at Rolling Hills High School and was a four year starter for Coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke University. Bilas graduated in 1985 with a degree in political science and was subsequently selected in the fifth round of the NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. After a playing career overseas, Bilas went on to become an assistant coach for Coach K at Duke for three seasons and while coaching the Blue Devils advanced to three Final Fours and won two National Championships in 1991 and 1992. Since 1995, Bilas has become a staple on ESPN as an analyst and commentator for the sports network and also is a featured writer for the network as well. While Bilas was coaching at Duke he also completed his J.D. at Duke’s School of Law and currently maintains his litigation practice. Currently Bilas lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and their son and daughter.

This upcoming week, Jay Bilas will be the featured speaker at the 17th annual Blair County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony. The event will sell out rather quickly as the county looks to honor some of the most outstanding athletes and coaches in recent years and with Bilas in attendance it should prove to have an electric atmosphere.
