Former San Francisco 49ers coach George Seifert has been announced as a keynote speaker for the Santa Rosa Junior College football fundraiser that’s happening later this spring on May 14 at the SRJC Shone Farm in Windsor. Tickets to get into the event cost $75 per person for general admission and dinner, with the option of upgrading to being able to meet and greet the football great for a total of $125 per person. The funds raised from this event will donate its proceeds to the Santa Rosa Junior College and will benefit their football program. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is expected to draw in football fans in from all around the area to see Seifert, the sports genius.
The San Francisco native was born and raised in the Californian city and was even an usher for the Niners’ home games while he was a high school student. Having a knack for football himself, Seifert then attended the University of Utah where he played for the Utes as a playing guard and a linebacker. After graduating with his bachelors, he then went on to further his educating while taking on a career as an assistant coach. Starting in 1964 he spent the next decade in various coaching positions with Westminster College, the University of Oregon, the University of Iowa and Stanford University before getting a head coach position with Cornell University. From 1980 to 1996 Seifert worked for the San Francisco 49ers as their defensive backs coach, defensive coordinator and head coach before spending his last two years as a professional coach with the Carolina Panthers.
The two-time Super Bowl champion will be speaking at this year’s Santa Rosa Junior College football fundraiser dinner this spring and it is going to be a lot of fun for all the sports enthusiasts out there.
