Steve Stipanovich SpeakerFormer Indiana Pacers center Steve Stipanovich will be the featured speaker at the 16th Annual Congressional Prayer Breakfast, which will be held on Monday, April 28 at 7:30 a.m. in the Gateway Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

“Every year, this gather has transcended the stigma of politics and concentrated on all of us developing a prayerful, strong, and moral life,” said Gary Tedrick, owner of Answer Midwest and chairman of the annual breakfast. This year Stanovich will be sharing how his life changed when he learned to walk in the spirit of a long God.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Stanovich was named College Player of the Year and ended his career at Mizzou as the school’s all-time leading scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker. In 1983 he was the Pacers first round pick in the NBA Draft and earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1984. During six seasons with the Pacers he averaged 13.2 points and 7.8 rebounds a game. Since his retirement in 1988 he and his wife Terri have been involved with the Mercy Ministries program in the St. Louis Area, providing temporary homes for young women recovering from abuse.
