Mitch Williams SpeakerFormer Major League pitcher and current MLB Network analyst Mitch Williams will be the keynote speaker at the Penn State annual First Pitch Dinner on Feb. 1. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Penn Stater, with new head coach Rob Cooper also speaking.

The team will host a kid’s clinic earlier in the day from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a team practice from noon to 2 p.m. A VIP reception and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Penn Stater, followed by the dinner and program.

Williams, a left-hander with a high-90s fastball and major control issues, was largely effective, earning 192 saves in his 11 seasons including a career high of 43 in 1993. However, he is perhaps best known for a blown save after giving up a walk-off home run to Joe Carter of the Toronto Blue Jays in the sixth game of the 1993 World Series, which gave Toronto their second consecutive World Championship.
