Former MLB center fielder Doug Glanville has been named the featured keynote speaker for 25th Anniversary Governor’s Luncheon hosted by The Governor’s Prevention Partnership. The luncheon will be held at the Hartford Marriott Downtown from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. with the theme of “The Power of Prevention and You. Be Inspired.”
Glanville played 10 years in the big leagues and saw time with the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers. In 1999 he had a career year, posting a .325 average with 11 home runs, 38 doubles, 73 RBI and 101 runs scored. After retiring from the league in 2004 he moved on to begin a broadcasting career with ESPN, often appearing as an expert analyst on the hit nightly show, “Baseball Tonight.”
In addition to his career in television he is also a best-selling author, writing his memoir “The Game From Where I Stand: From Batting Practice to the Clubhouse to the Best Breakfast in the Road, an Inside View of a Ballplayer’s Life,” in 2011.
