Former commissioner for the NBA David Stern has been announced as a speaker for the American Gaming Association’s Global Gaming Expo that’s taking place on September 29 in Las Vegas, NV at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. He will likely be discussing Adam Silver’s call for legalized gambling in sports, and reinstating that he agrees with this movement. In addition to that, Stern will be getting into the future of sports betting and how it will impact professional sports, alongside AGA President and CEO Geoff Freeman.
The New York City, New York native is a graduate of Teaneck High School and eventually went on to study at Rutgers University for his undergraduate degree and then on to Columbia Law School. In 1978, Stern was the NBA’s General Counsel under Larry O’Brien, and by 1980 he worked his way up to being the Executive Vice President of the NBA. He ended up being the 4th Commissioner of the NBA starting in 1984 and retired from the position in 2014, when he handed the buck over to Adam Silver, the current NBA Commissioner.
David Stern will be making a speech at the four-day event that’s happening in Las Vegas, which is being hosted by the American Gaming Association. He will be talking a lot about Silver’s opinions on gambling in professional sports, as well as predicting what’s to come for the NBA over the next few years.
