Oklahoma City Thunder broadcaster Michael Cage visited Minneha Core Knowledge Elementary School in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, October 17 prior to the Thunder’s pre-season game against the Toronto Raptors.
At 6’9, the fifteen year NBA veteran towered over the hundreds of 4th and 5th graders who were in awe of his size and presence. But they quickly learned that despite his size, he was still a little kid at heart. Throughout the day he played with the kids and offered them some valuable advice about going after their dreams, no matter what it is and no matter how long it may take to achieve it.
“I was one of those kids that dreamed all the time,” Cage told them. “No matter how small you are right now, don’t let anyone take that dream away from you. There’s no time limit to your dreams.”
At the end of the day Cage surpassed them with one last gift, a ticket to the nights game. To say that the youngsters were overwhelmed with joy would be an understatement. Despite the 109-90 loss later that night by the Thunder, there were clear winners on that Friday night. The kids.
