Dan ReevesFormer NFL coach Dan Reeves was the keynote speaker for this year’s Christian Athletes of the Year Award Banquet that was held on Tuesday, April 25th. Reeves got an opportunity to share some stories about his thrilling career in the sports industry as well as discuss the many challenges that he had to overcome.to ensure success in his job. It was a very exciting time for everyone who got to attend this event, and even if all of the audience wasn’t familiar with Reeves personally they were able to relate to him on other levels. The function was an overall fantastic experience for all who were lucky enough to participate in it.

The Rome, Georgia native got his football career started when he attended the University of South Carolina on a sports scholarship and played as the team’s quarterback during 1962-1964. Even though he went undrafted upon graduating from the University of South Carolina, Reeves got an offer from the Dallas Cowboys with whom he signed with in 1965 as a safety player but eventually became a halfback. The two-time Super Bowl Champion retired from playing football at the end of the 1972 season to become a full-time assistant coach, and by 1981 he became the youngest head coach in the NFL after signing on with the Denver Broncos. After his coaching days were over, Reeves still stayed active in the football community by working as a color analyst for the Westwood One radio network.

Reeves was in Dothan earlier this week to attend and speak at the Christian Athletes of the Year Awards Banquet that happened on April 25. It was a fun event and he managed to share a lot of good advice with the attendees.
