Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss is hosting free fitness boot camps twice a week in the Charlotte area, where about 300 people come each session to break a sweat with the football great. The founder of the camp Eric McCoy has been friends with Moss for a while now, as they work together when Moss coaches high school players at his Randy Moss Football Academy.
McCoy was trying to think of ways to get more people to attend his sessions, and he decided that maybe people would want to workout if they had a little inspiration from someone who was in the big leagues. The two of them knew it would speed things up and gather more participants, but Moss remains solid on the fact that he is just there to workout and that his name comes second to why he’s there.
The Rand, West Virginia native got his passion and talent for football rolling while he attended high school, and eventually went to Marshall University after an infringement with the law during his freshman year at another university. However, the 1997 Paul Warfield Trophy winner entered the 1998 NFL Draft and was selected as the 21st overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings with whom he stayed with until 2004. From 2005-2006 he played for the Oakland Raiders, and then he did three years with the New England Patriots before going back to the Vikings in 2010. In 2012, Moss did a one year contract with the San Francisco 49ers before retiring for good.
Moss is currently helping his friend Eric McCoy twice a week with free fitness boot camp sessions, where he helps people of all body types get in the mood for improving their health and overall well being.
