Former NFL player Jon Dorenbos has been scheduled to speak at Gilda’s Club Quad Cities’ eighth annual Captivating Conversations fundraiser that is happening on March 31 at Rhythm City Casino. The former athlete is also a magician and a survivor of childhood trauma, which makes him a great candidate to talk about resilience and offer lots of motivating insights. Dorenbos hopes to inspire the Quad-Cities community during his visit and also connect with them on a deeper level. He was chosen for this event based on his great charisma
The Humble, Texas native started playing sports in his early teen years in Huntington, California, where he lived with his aunt and uncle after suffering a great family tragedy. In High School he excelled in multiple sports including football, baseball, and hockey, and even earned all-league honors in both football and baseball. He, later on, went to attend college at the University of Texas in El Paso where he earned a degree in business and also played as the snapper for their football team. Although he went undrafted in 2003, he was signed as a snapper by the Buffalo Bills with whom he played with for a year before going to the Tennessee Titans, and eventually the Philadelphia Eagles. He is also a professional magician and has performed in Las Vegas, NV.
Dorenbos will be speaking later this month at Rhythm City Casino for the Gilda’s Club Quad Cities eighth annual Captivating Conversations fundraiser. The former NFL player has an incredible backstory on his life that is filled with lots of encouraging words and examples of inspiration.
