Kendall SimmonsFormer NFL Player Kendall Simmons recently spoke at the Reppell Diabetes Learning Center at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Simmons took some time to speak to the audience about his journey through the hoops of the NFL, and up to and including his struggle with being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and how it impacted his career. The Ripley, Mississippi native was named an All-State and PrepStar All-America selection as a senior defensive lineman during his years in high school. In addition to football, he also played baseball and basketball as a star athlete. After graduating from Ripley High, he went on to attend and play at Auburn University prior to entering the 2002 NFL Draft where he was selected in the first round as the 30th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played on their roster for six seasons before doing a short-term with both the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in 2009 just prior to retirement. In his sports career, Simmons was also a two-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time First-team All-SEC award winner.

Simmons recently spoke at the Reppell Diabetes Learning Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas to discuss his fantastic career as a football player and how living with diabetes affected him. He gave some great words of inspiration and managed to make it a fun and informative experience.
