Former NFL quarterback Jake Locker was the featured speaker at the Fields of Faith event that occurred in Yakima, Washington on October 14. The function is one that happens nationwide and is designed to help middle school and high school aged athletes find ways to express their Christian faith in life through their school work and athletic activities. It was a very inspiring talk for the kids who got to hear Locker speak, and it was recently found out that the former player has dedicated himself to working with youth and their faith by joining the Pacific Northwest staff of Fellowship Christian Athletes.
The Bellingham, Washington native got his football career started when he played for the University of Washington Huskies during his college years. He entered the 2011 NFL Draft and was picked up in the first round as the eighth overall pick by the Tennessee Titans where he played for four seasons before retiring in 2014. The 2010 Holiday Bowl Champion decided to leave the sport due to a lot of other things happening in his life including a lack of desire to play.
Locker spoke at this year’s Fields of Faith event to a bunch of youngsters who are learning how to express their Christian beliefs in their life with both academics and athletics. It was a moving talk and the attendees got to see the softer side of a tough former NFL player.
