Later this month the Splash Foundation will be holding a fundraising event that is being sponsored by multiple high profile companies but one of the most surprising guests is not one of these companies but former Olympic swimmer Josh Davis. The event will be held on April 23rd at the Weborg 21 Centre.
Josh Davis is a native of San Antonio, Texas who is an Olympic gold medalist and former world record holder. In the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, Davis helped the United States take home the gold medal in both the 4×100 and 4×200 meter freestyle relays. Along with those two gold medals, Davis took home another by winning the 4×100 meter medley relay and then finished seventh in the 200 meter freestyle swim as well. Four years later, Davis again helped the U.S. team take home medals by finishing second in both the 4×100 and 4×200 meter freestyle relays and finished fourth in the 200 meter freestyle. In 2001, the newly completed natatorium at the North East Independent School District’s Virgil T. Blossom Athletic Center was named in Davis’ honor. Today Davis and his wife Shantel are raising five children.
Later this month former Olympic swimmer Josh Davis will be the featured guest speaker at the Splash Foundation’s fundraising event. The event should have an amazing turnout and with Davis in attendance should prove to do well in raising money for support of educational opportunities for children.
