16-year-old U.S. Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas made history on Thursday at the London Olympics when she became the first African-American to win a gold medal during women’s gymnastics all-around event. Gabby Douglas’ success doesn’t stop there as she and her Team USA teammates won the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics team event. Douglas’ success during the London Olympics not only secured her spot in the history books, but also ensured endorsement deals, appearances and speaking engagements will be coming her way.

One brand had the foresight to see how talented  U.S. Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas  and quickly signed her to her first endorsement deal. July 23, 2012, Douglas became part of the P&G team and is now featured in P&G’s “Raising an Olympian” campaign. In signing Douglas during the course of the London Olympics, P&G was able to become the first corporation to capitalize on Douglas’ Olympic success. Prior to the Olympics, P&G also signed Shawn Johnson, who retired from gymnastics before the London Olympics trials along with Jordyn Wieber, who earned a team gold medal alongside Douglas.

Industry experts expect Douglas to sign endorsement deals outside of her current deal with P&G. Experts also project Gabby Douglas will be one of the top athletes for speaking engagements, appearances, autograph signings and corporate hospitality events. Overall, Douglas will leave London with much to celebrate including  A gold medal win with Team USA, re-writing history with her gold medal win in the all-around, and a plethora of opportunities to come home to.
