Six time Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken-Rouen has been named the keynote speaker for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Assembly, which will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois on September 25-26.
Dyken-Rouen was the first woman to win four gold medals in one Olympic Games, accomplishing this feat at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. She went on to win two additional gold medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics before retiring from international swimming. In 2014 she was severely injured during a tragic car accident, but continues to inspire other with her tenacity and work ethic throughout the rehabilitation process.
In addition to her remarks at the event, she will also assist with the awarding of four USOC awards, including the Jack Kelly Fair Play Award presented by BP, the Olympic Torch Award, and the individual and program Rings of Gold awards.
