Carolina Panthers Greg Olsen hosted a food drive earlier this year to benefit the Loaves & Fishes organization. The event took place from 5 – 7 p.m. on Morehead Street which is typically a very popular spot for tailgaters watching a game at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. This was the very first sort of this charity event that Olsen has taken place in, and everyone who brought a food donation was able to get a coupon for a 10-pack of Coca-Cola and an autograph from the NFL star.
The Wayne, New Jersey native started playing football during high school where he was one of three players who were chosen from the Gatorade Player of the Year award. In 2003, he was named the No. 2 tight end in the nation and ended up starting out his college career at the University of Notre Dame but later on transferred to the University of Miami. He entered the 2007 NFL Draft where he was chosen as the 31st overall pick by the Chicago Bears with whom he stayed with for three years before going to the Panthers, where he plays today.
Olsen had a great time at the food drive and tailgate this last September and it was a great turnout for the cause.
