Hall of Fame MLB manager Whitey Herzog has been announced as the guest speaker for The Old Timers’ 67th Annual Banquet that is happening on January 21st, 2016 at the Clarion Hotel in Joliet, Illinois. Tickets to the event will cost $50 per person, or $500 for a reservation for an entire table of 10 people, which can be purchased on the USF athletic department’s website or by giving them a call. Herzog has a reputation for being a lot of fun and a great guy, so there is no doubt that the event is going to be a huge success. The New Athens, Illinois native played baseball in the MLB before moving on to be a manager. Herzog made his debut as an outfielder in April 1956 for the Washington Senators with whom he played with for two years until 1958. Over the next five years he bounced around between the Kansas City Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, and Detroit Tigers before switching gears and becoming a manager. The 1982 World Series champion managed the Texas Rangers, California Angels, Kansas City Royals, and St. Louis Cardinals before retiring in 1994 at the age of 63.
