Hall of famer Marcus Allen will be returning to this year’s Review-Journal’s Best of Nevada Preps Awards that are happening on June 3rd inside The Venetian Theater. The event will take place between 7 and 9 p.m., and Allen is expected to share some of his favorite memories from playing in the NFL as well as offer up some words of encouragement to all of today’s young athletes, as well as their families. This event is closed to the public, and at this time only open to said student athletes. It should be a fun evening for everyone and will come with a different vibe as it’s happening in a new venue.
The San Diego, California native played as the quarterback for his high school football team and eventually was recruited to play for the University of Southern California which he did from 1978 to 1981.He entered the 1982 NFL Draft where he was selected as the 10th overall pick by the Los Angeles Raiders, with whom he played with for 10 years before going to the Kansas City Chiefs for his last four years as a professional player. In 1999, Allen was inducted into the San Diego Hall of Champions and into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003. Since his retirement, he has joined the sports website OPENSports.com as a spokesman and also occasionally writes blogs for them and answers member questions from time to time.
Allen will be the keynote speaker for this year’s Nevada Preps ceremony that is happening later this summer on June 3rd inside The Venetian Theater. It will be a very fun and inspiring event for all of the youngsters and their families.
