Former NHL defense player Paul Coffey is set to be the keynote speaker for this year’s BASF Knowledge Harvest events across Western Canada events. These events will be held in Portage la Prairie in Yorkton, Camrose and will be taking place all throughout February and March. Being as that Coffey is a Canada native, his speech is going to be especially meaningful as he shares stories from his days in the NHL and how important it is to work as a team. Coffey made sure to emphasize that playing hockey is much like being in a family, and that mindset is perfect for many other aspects of life.
Coffey was the 6th overall pick in the 1980 NFHL draft by the Edmonton Oilers, and he continued to play in the league over a course of 21 years for nine different teams including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins. He is also a four-time Stanley Cup champion, a three-time James Norris Memorial Trophy winner, and he was inducted into the Penguins Hall of Fame in 2007 just a few years after his retirement.
Coffey is scheduled to appear at this year’s Knowledge Harvest events that are happening over the months of February and early March. It is sure to be a great experience for everyone who gets to attend, as well as for all the hockey fans in the area.
