Ohio State Alum Archie Griffin will be returning to his alma mater this May to give this year’s commencement speech to more than 10,000 new graduates of the institution. What makes the event even more special for Griffin is the fact that his own son, Adam Griffin, will be among the thousands getting their diplomas from Ohio State University at the end of this semester. The university was delighted to have Griffin on board with being the speaker this year, as he is a hometown favorite and one of the most famous Ohio State players in the history of the school, being called “the greatest player” his former coach Woody Hayes ever worked with.
The former running back for the Cincinnati Bengals is the only person in the history of college football to win the Heisman Trophy twice, which he won during his junior and senior years at Ohio State. He was drafted to the Bengals in 1976 where he spent a good seven seasons and even got to play with the team in the 1981 Super Bowl before retiring after the following year. His son Adam who will be among the students graduating this spring is also a football player for Ohio State following the footsteps of his father.
Griffin will be giving a highly anticipated commencement speech this spring for the class of 2015, and the Buckeyes are excited to have one of their most cherished graduates back on campus to be a part of the celebration.
