Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff will be guest coaches at the Next Level Football Camp at Pearl High School on June 8. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. These trips help coaches and staff connect with out-of-state recruits. Running back Cam Akers and linebacker Willie Gay, two of the four overall recruits in the state, have tweeted that they will be in attendance. Harbaugh has taken part of these out-of-state satellite camps over the past couple of years. The cost of attending the camp is $25 for those that preregister and $40 for those that don’t.
The Toledo native, was raised around football. His father was a football coach contributing to his family living in Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa, Michigan, and California during his childhood. Harbaugh attended high school in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Palo Alto, California when his father was an assistant coach at Michigan and Stanford. After graduation from high school in Palo Alto in 1982, Harbaugh returned to Ann Arbor and enrolled at the University of Michigan and played quarterback for the Wolverines. As a fifth-year senior in 1986, he led Michigan to the 1987 Rose Bowl and was a Heisman Trophy finalist, finishing third. Harbaugh was selected in the first round of the 1987 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. He played from 1987 to 1993 with Chicago, 1994 to 1997 with the Indianapolis Colts, 1998 with the Baltimore Ravens, and 1999 to 2000 with the San Diego Chargers; totaling 14 years as a quarterback in the NFL. His 1995 season with the Indianapolis was his best year, leading the Colts to the AFC Championship Game, being selected to the Pro Bowl and being honored as NFL Comeback Player of the Year. During 1994 to 2001, while still playing in the NFL, Harbaugh was an unpaid assistant coach at Western Kentucky University, where his father was head coach. After two years out of the league, he returned to the NFL in 2002 as the quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders. He returned to college ranks in 2004 as the head coach at the University of San Diego, he moved up to Stanford in 2007 for four seasons before signing a five-year deal as head coach of the NFL San Francisco 49ers. In 2015, Harbaugh returned to his alma mater as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines where he still resides.
This upcoming June 8th, the Next Level Football Camp at Pearl High School will host the best of Mississippi’s high school football players as well as Michigan’s head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff will as guest coaches. He will be coaching from 9 a.m. to noon. Players can attend the camp for $25.
