Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Booking AgentLakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been named the keynote speaker for the 19th Mary and Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture at Southern Connecticut which is happening at 7 p.m. on May 5th. Abdul-Jabbar will be speaking in the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts in New Haven and is expected to bring in a large audience of over 100 people. The New York City native was first recognized for his basketball skills after he helped his team won 71 consecutive wins as a teenager. Abdul-Jabbar then attended UCLA and played on their basketball team where he assisted them in getting to three national championships during this time as a player.He entered the 1969 NBA Draft where he was selected as the first overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, and he stayed with the team for six years before going to play for the Los Angeles Lakers where he played for an additional 14 seasons. The six-time NBA MVP and NBA champion retired from playing in 1989, but has stayed active in the sports community and also authored 11 books.

Abdul-Jabbar is set up to be the keynote speaker next month at SCSU for the 19th Mary and Louis Fusco Distinguished Lecture. It is going to be a thoughtful and exciting talk that basketball fans will remember for decades to come.
