This Sunday, Kevin Greene along with seven others were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was a surprise to no one that Greene and the other seven men, including Brett Favre and Marvin Harrison, were inducted. All of the men inducted this year have a long list of personal and team accomplishments that most do not ever reach. Greene specifically was a terror for quarterbacks and still ranks near the top for all-time sacks.
The 15 year veteran of the NFL, Kevin Greene, is a native of Schenectady, New York. Greene started his college football career as an unspectacular walk-on at Auburn University. Before he left Auburn in 1985 with his selection in the fifth round of NFL draft, Green had just won the defensive player of the year award. Greene played well for not only the Los Angeles Rams that drafted him but also for the Steelers, Panthers, and 49ers. He was named the best linebacker in the NFL in numerous seasons and still holds the record for sacks by a linebacker at 160. Greene made five Pro Bowls and was a member of the 1990s all decade team. Even into his mid-30s, Greene still proved to be a productive pass rusher which he still holds the record for most sacks past the age of 34 and still ranks third all-time on the NFL sack list. Greene will always be remembered as a fierce pass rusher that rarely got enough credit for being a more complete player.
Kevin Greene was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Sunday along with seven other very deserving men. The event was once again amazing and had a great showing of sports celebrities and legends of the game. The Hall of Fame induction, as always, gave fans the chance to appreciate the play of some recent legends of the game.
