Under Armour CEO and founder Kevin Plank has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2016 New York National Deal Making Conference that’s happening on December 5th and 6th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. At the event, he will discuss his two-decade long journey that began with a simple t-shirt and how he managed to grow his business to be worth almost $5 billion dollars. It will no doubt be interesting to all of the athletic people out there, but it’s also going to grab the attention of people simply because the brand is extremely popular.
The Lutherville, Maryland native grew up in this suburb just out of our nation’s capital and began making his own business plans during his college years. At the University of Maryland, he thought of many business platforms and saved up money from the various projects which allowed him to launch his clothing brand, Under Armour. After lots of trial and error, Plank finally found a material that he could use to make the wicking material clothing items that made it easier for playing sports stacked up next to regular cotton shirts. By 2012, he was named #3 on Forbes’ annual “40 under 40” list and is thought to be one of America’s most powerful CEOs under the age of 40.
Next month Plank will be speaking at this year’s 2016 New York National Deal Making Conference that’s happening on the 5th and 6th. It is going to be a very informative session for athletes, entrepreneurs, and business-minded people alike.
