Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant traveled to the city of Manila in the Philippines to hold a training camp for a few special people who play the sport. This trip was a part of a tour called the “Mamba Mentality Tour” and took place on June 26 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, where Bryant had a chance to interact with many of his fans across the sea and show them a thing or two on the basketball court. There was also a pre-camp before his main event there, and that was held on June 22-24, and the players were able to try out and compete for a spot at Bryant’s other day camp. The locals were thrilled to have him in town and this was a great way to kick off the summer.
The Philadelphia native was an athlete from a very young age and also got to spend a few years overseas in Italy, thanks to his father’s employment. The basketball star is only one of a very select few to go into the NBA directly after high school, as was the 13th overall draft pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA Draft, but he was quickly traded over to the Lakers before the season started. The 18-time NBA All-Star player spent all of the years in his professional career on this team, and finally retired in the first half of 2016.
Bryant traveled to the Philippines earlier this month to hot a NBA basketball team and had a huge success doing so. The locals had to compete for a spot to work with the star himself, just the same way that he got his feet wet into the NBA.
