Legendary FSU head football coach Bobby Bowden was the keynote speaker for the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office Second Annual Awards and Recognition ceremony last week at East Gadsden High School in Havana, Florida.
Prior to his speech there was a special tribute and video held to honor the lives of those the community lost in 2013, including Coach Bowden’s grandson Taylor Jeffrey “T.J.” Bowden who perished in a car wreck in December 2013. Bowden and his wife Ann were presented with a FSU National Champ jersey with T.J.’s name on it.
As he spoke about the nights engagement, Bowden’s comments were about his trust in God and his trust in Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Although T.J. was the second grandson that Bowden has lost to a tragic car accident, he said he was confident that he would see them again in Heaven.
Bowden also provided some words of encouragement for the officers in attendance at the ceremony.
“You are very important to this nation,” he said. “You cannot have a free nation without law enforcement.”
Since Bowden’s retirement he has released several books chronicling his career and providing advice, encouragement, and motivation to millions. He is one of the most sought after speakers on the circuit because of his ability to captivate each audience with his faith and love for the message of Jesus Christ.
