Longtime NFL coach Norv Turner has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s Big Red Coaches Clinic that is happening on Saturday, April 2nd in Omaha. The clinic actually beings on that Friday, but Turner and other speakers will take the stage on the early morning the next day. At the clinic, Turner and his fellow speakers will be giving lots of advice on what he has learned over the years in his career, and will even share a couple stories or two about the job. In addition to that, attendees to the coaches clinic will be able to watch the Huskers practice that same afternoon.
The North Carolina native got his athletic career started when he played football in high school, and then was a graduate assistant coach for the USC Trojans in 1976. He stayed with the Trojans for nine seasons before taking a job opportunity as a wide receivers coach for the Los Angeles Rams. Turner coached with the Rams for five years before taking a position as a offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, where he stayed for three years. Over the course of his career, he has also worked for many other NFL teams including the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, and also the Minnesota Vikings with him he has been with since 2014. Scott Turner, Norv Turner’s son, proved that coaching skills runs in the family as he is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings.
Turner will be in Omaha in the early part of next month to attend the Big Red Coaches Clinic and participate as one of the keynote speakers. He is expected to draw in a big turnout and make it a fun, informative, and exciting event for everyone.
