It was announced this past week that LPGA golfer, Michelle Wie has signed an endorsement deal with StarKist. StarKist Creations stated that the pairing was a natural fit due to Wie’s lifestyle constantly being on the go and her being loyal to the groups single serve flavored pouches.
Michelle Wie is a Honolulu, Hawaii native began playing golf at the age of four. At the age of ten, Wie became the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in 2000. The following year Wie won both Hawaii State Women’s Stroke Play Championship and the Jennie K. Wilson Women’s Invitational. In 2003, Wie became the youngest player ever to make an LPGA cut at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and later that year she also made the cut at the US Women’s Open when she was just 13, still the youngest to do so. Wie played her first LPGA event as a professional was the 2005 LPGA Samsung World Championship in which she placed third but was eliminated due to an incorrect score card. Wie’s 2006 has been well documented due to her playing in multiple PGA events which began at the PGA Tour Sony Open. The following eight years had many Wie victories and also a number of injuries but in 2014 it all came together for Wie in a LPGA major when she won the U.S. Women’s Open.
