As Bubba Watson was in Los Angeles to collect his 2012 ESPY award for Best Golfer, he made a quick stop on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno show to speak about his fast growing career, how he got the name Bubba and shooting 62 when he was 12 years old. Bubba claims he never took a golf lesson and just played on pure instinct. As a kid, his Dad always wanted him to be a left handed pitcher for the New York Yankees, but pretty sure he’s proud how his son’s live turned out. His first date with his wife was on a golf course where he impressed her by shooting a 66. She played basketball for the University of Georgia where they met.
Watson is also a member of the “Golf Boys”, a boy band consisting of Bubba, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan. Their hit song “Oh Oh Oh” was produced by Farmers Insurance Group. Farmers donates $1,000 to charity for every 100,000 views the video gets. They currently have over 5.2 million view.
Bubba is also a motivational Christian speaker talking openly about the importance of faith in his life, and devotes much of his money and time to charity.
His first major championship win came this year at the 2012 Masters Tournament. Many great things are ahead for Bubba who is only 33 years old.
