Michael Vick SpeakerDelivering passes, speeches and now scholarships are what Michael Vick does best. The students at Camelot selected Philadelphia Eagles quarterback to give their commencement speech. Vick received more votes than Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter in a poll among students at the five Philadelphia-area Camelot Schools to decide the graduation speaker. During the speech, Vick awarded two lucky students, $5,000 scholarships.

Camelot consists of five educational institutions and works with the Philadelphia school district to provide services for teenagers with behavioral and emotional issues. They also assist children who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out.

Speaking from past experiences, Vick delivered a powerful speech to 450 graduating student at the ceremony at Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. In 2007 and at the top of his game, Vick was convicted for his role in a dog fighting ring and served 18 months in federal prison. Since then, his life has changed and he has found a way to deliver a message to the youth, as well as NFL rookies about making right decisions in life.

In 2010, he was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year by The Associated Press, throwing for 3,018 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was also named to his 4th Pro Bowl.

“These students may have made a mistake along the way, but they turned it around,” “They did the right thing and finished school. I am honored to be speaking at their commencement.” Vick said after the speech.
