Milwaukee Brewers David Denson has become the first openly gay active player to be affiliated with the Major Baseball League. This was revealed just a few days ago during a game, where Denson felt that the time was right to tell his teammates about his lifestyle and received nothing but support from the other men. The Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell then reported the story to the local newspaper who broke the news to the rest of the public. Even though Denson is still working hard to improve his status in the league, he is getting lots of cheers as he heads to home plate each time from fans who admire his courage.
The California native has been playing ball in Wisconsin for a little over two years now, and he started out with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Class A Midwest League. In 2015 he was selected to begin the season with the Brewers but was demoted to the Helena Brewers of the Rookie-level Pioneer League where he hopes to improve his talent and be a full time starter.
Denson is being applauded all around the country for having the bravery to be come out openly about his lifestyle, and it sounds like he is getting much more love and support than he never could have imagined.
