Major League legend Willie Mays has been named the keynote speaker for the annual Champion Honors Luncheon on January 14, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, California. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by Mays’ speech. The cost to attend the event is $100 per person and there are 700 seats available with proceeds going to benefit the Barbara Sinatra Center for Abused Children.
“I am extremely honored to have been invited to appear at the luncheon, and to help out Barbara,” said Mays. “Barbara was way ahead of her time on such a sensitive need.”
Willie Mays, also known as “The Say Hey Kid”, was a 24 time All-Star and two-time NL MVP. Yes, that’s right. A 24 time All-Star. His career was a step above the rest, and he is widely considered to be the best outfielder in MLB history. His 12 Gold Gloves tie an MLB record, and at the time of his retirement he ranked 4th all-time with 660 home runs. Dynamic, all-around players like Mays come along not once in a generation, but once ever. He’s one of the best, and is an even better guy.
