Jeremy Guthrie SpeakerMLB pitcher Jeremy Guthrie will be the keynote speaker at the “First Pitch” Fundraising Dinner/Auction on Jan. 18  at 6 p.m. in the Hinckley Building at BYU. The event will feature a dinner, followed by a presentation of the Cameron Tuckett Award by former BYU Coach Glen Tuckett and an address by Guthrie.

Jeremy Guthrie has pitched six years in the Major League with Cleveland, Baltimore, Colorado and Kansas City. Guthrie recorded a 5-4 record for BYU in 1988 with a 6.54 earned run average in 16 appearances and 64.2 innings prior to serving a mission to Spain. He then transferred to Stanford where he was drafted in the first round of 2002 by the Cleveland Indians.

Guthrie pitched three seasons for the Indians before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles. He recorded a 47-65 record in five seasons at Baltimore before signing with the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals in 2012. Last year he was 15-12 with the Royals with a 4.05 ERA in 33 starts.
